# How do I use Transistor with Zapier?

[Zapier](https://zapier.com/apps/transistorfm/integrations) connects Transistor to thousands of other apps, so you can automate tasks without writing code. For example, you can:

* Add someone to your private podcast when they join your membership platform, and remove them if they cancel
* Post to Slack when a new episode is published
* Create a blog post for each new episode

### What Transistor can do in Zapier

**Triggers** (start a Zap when something happens in Transistor):

* Episode Published
* New Episode Created
* New Subscriber Created
* Subscriber Removed

**Actions** (do something in Transistor):

* Create Subscriber
* Remove Subscriber

The subscriber triggers and actions are for [private podcasts](https://support.transistor.fm/en/article/how-do-i-create-a-private-podcast-taj9n6/). They're most often used to sell access through a membership platform.

See [How do I sell access to a private podcast?](https://support.transistor.fm/en/article/how-do-i-sell-access-to-a-private-podcast-ls37yl/)

### How to set it up

* Log in to [Zapier](https://zapier.com/), or sign up for an account
* Create a new Zap and choose **Transistor.fm** as the trigger or action app
* Connect your Transistor account with your API key, from your [account page](https://dashboard.transistor.fm/account) under **API Access**
* Choose your show where asked. Your show ID is also on the **Integrations** tab of your podcast
* If it asks for a numeric show ID, here's [how to find your numeric show ID](https://support.transistor.fm/en/article/does-transistor-have-an-api-1b24sjo/#3-finding-your-numeric-show-ids)
* Finish setting up your Zap, test it and turn it on

### Making other API calls

The Transistor triggers and actions in Zapier cover new and published episodes and private podcast subscribers. To do anything else the [Transistor API](https://support.transistor.fm/en/article/does-transistor-have-an-api-1b24sjo/) can do, like creating, updating or publishing episodes, you can send your own API requests from a Zap with **Webhooks by Zapier**, using its **Custom Request** action.

Add your API key as an `x-api-key` header, and use the [API docs](https://developers.transistor.fm/) to set up each request.

| **Webhooks by Zapier** is included on Zapier's Professional, Team and Enterprise plans, not the Free plan.
