How do I connect my Kit account to Transistor so I can embed podcast audio players into my Kit emails?
If you use Kit to deliver email newsletters and updates, you can install the Transistor.fm Kit App to easily embed great-looking podcast audio players into your email templates. While the audio won't be able to be played from within the emails, they do link out to a Transistor-hosted web page for easy listening.
To install the Transistor.fm Kit App, navigate to the Kit App Store and scroll to find the Transistor.fm app. Click the "Install" button and you'll be sent to Transistor.fm to either sign in to your Transistor account, or you'll see a page asking you to agree to grant Kit access to read data from your podcasts and episodes. Click the "Grant access to Kit" button and you'll be redirected back to your Kit account. The app is now installed!
While editing an email or a template, add a new block within the Kit editor. Scroll down or search the options for Transistor, and choose the "Transistor Episode Player" option. This will insert a Transistor.fm block for you to configure.
First, select or search for one of your podcasts from the righthand configuration menu. Then choose a specific episode to embed from the episode menu that appears after choosing your podcast. Once you do this, the audio player will appear in your email template. You can then optionally customize the background color of the audio player. The color of the text and buttons in the player will change depending on the background color chosen. You're now ready to send your email with your audio player included.
This is similar to choose a specific podcast episode, except it will embed the last published episode from the podcast you choose. Add a new block to your Kit template, and choose the "Transistor Latest Episode Player" option. From here, choose one of your podcasts, and optionally configure a background color for the player.
To uninstall the Transistor Kit App from your Kit account, navigate to the Kit App Store and scroll to find the Transistor.fm app. Click the "Uninstall" button and the app will be removed. You can also filter by "Installed Apps" in the lefthand navigation.
