How to create a Show Notes Template

Show Notes Templates allow you to auto-insert pre-formatted text into the show notes section for every new episode you create. This saves you from having to copy and paste the same information from a Google Doc or previous episode each time you publish.

Auto-fill text every time you create a new episode

If you set up your episodes in a similar way every week or month, this feature eliminates the need to manually enter recurring information like:

  • Related episode links
  • Social media handles
  • Website URLs
  • Standard formatting sections
  • Call-to-action prompts

How to set up your Show Notes Template

  1. Navigate to your Settings menu
  2. Scroll down to the Show Notes option and click it
  3. In the template editor, add the text and formatting you want to appear in every new episode
  4. Click Save

What to include in your template

Your template can include any text, formatting, or placeholders you regularly use in your episodes. Here is an example:

EPISODE SUMMARY
[Add your episode summary here]

RELATED EPISODE(S)
E#: (Apple, Spotify, YouTube)

OTHER RESOURCES

STAY IN TOUCH
Socials: @yourpodcast
Visit our Website: https://yourwebsite.com

Recurring links and prompts:

  • Social media handles
  • Website URLs
  • Email addresses for listener feedback
  • Video links (YouTube, etc.)
  • Bluesky or other social platform URLs
  • Standard outro copy

Placeholder reminders: You can include reminders for yourself or your editor, such as "Episode summary here" or "Add links mentioned in episode below."

How it works

Once you've saved your template, every time you create a new episode:

  1. Click Create Episode
  2. Enter your episode title
  3. Scroll down to the Show Notes section
  4. Your template will automatically appear with all your preformatted text

You can then fill in the unique details for that specific episode (like the actual episode summary, links mentioned, or video URLs) without having to retype or paste in your standard formatting.

Tips for using Show Notes Templates

  • Keep recurring elements (like social links) in the template
  • Use placeholder text like "[Add summary here]" to remind yourself what needs to be filled in
  • Include section headers to maintain consistent formatting across all episodes
  • If you work with an editor, templates serve as helpful reminders of what information they need to add

Can I change my template later?

Yes! You can edit your Show Notes Template at any time by going back to Settings > Show Notes. Changes will only apply to new episodes created after the update. Previously created episodes will retain their existing show notes.
