How to use Bluesky auto-posting and podcast comments

Bluesky auto-posting with website comments is live now! Read more in our feature announcement.

Bluesky is a newer social network that's been gaining momentum. It's free-to-use, and Transistor makes it easy to connect your Bluesky account to your podcast, and have it automatically post an episode announcement when a new episode is published. Additionally, replies to your Bluesky posts can act as a commenting system that can be enabled on your Transistor website, and on your episode sharing pages.

How it Works

Visit the Integrations tab for your Transistor podcast, and scroll to the Bluesky section
Click the Sign in with Bluesky button, and you'll be taken to a page with authenticate using your Bluesky credentials
You'll be redirected back to Transistor, and your Bluesky account will be connected. Any episodes published after connecting will be posted to Bluesky using the default settings.
You can customize the text that is posted to Bluesky, and any URLs, @profile mentions, or hashtags will be linked to.
You can also customize which Transistor URL is linked to from the preview image that is generated, and whether or not you want Bluesky replies to show up as comments on your Transistor website and sharing pages.

How Comments work with Bluesky replies

If enabled (the default), any replies to your episode's auto-posted Bluesky post will appear as a comments thread on your Transistor website, and your episode's sharing page, like so:

You can customize this setting in the Bluesky integration settings panel:

Moderating Comments

Bluesky offers a fairly robust system to moderate your posts and replies to your posts. If you block a another user within your Bluesky account, or if you hide a reply to one of your Bluesky posts, those replies will not be displayed in the comments section of your Transistor website or sharing page for that episode.
