How do I customize the emails private subscribers receive?

Private podcast subscribers get two kinds of email from Transistor: a welcome email when they're added, and an email each time you publish a new episode. You can customize both.

Who the emails come from

Subscriber emails come from your podcast's author name, followed by "(via Transistor)". To remove "(via Transistor)", check Remove Transistor.fm branding from your embed audio players and subscriber emails in the Settings tab.

When a subscriber replies, the reply goes to the address in Email Notification Reply-to in the Settings tab. If that's empty, replies go to the account owner's email address.

The welcome email

The welcome email tells new subscribers how to listen on the web and in their podcast app. To customize it, go to the Settings tab and click Customize the welcome email. You can change:

  • Email Subject: by default, "Private podcast: [your podcast's title]"
  • Email Headline: by default, "Welcome to the private podcast!"
  • Email Message: a short message added to the email. It can include line breaks but no other formatting.

To send the welcome email again, use Resend welcome email next to a subscriber on the Subscribers tab.

New episode emails

In the Settings tab, under Email Notifications:

  • Send subscribers an email each time a new episode is published (recommended) turns new episode emails on or off
  • Allow subscribers to unsubscribe from new episode email notifications adds an unsubscribe link to those emails

You can customize each episode's email in the episode's settings, under New Episode Email Notifications:

  • Email Subject: by default, "New episode of [your podcast]: [the episode's title]"
  • Email Headline: by default, "Listen to the latest podcast episode"
  • Email Message: a short message added to the email

If new episode emails are turned off, you can still send them for a single episode. Click Configure and Send Emails on the episode, any time up to 24 hours after it's published. After that, contact us and we'll help.

Make sure the emails arrive

If your subscribers are at a company, their email system may filter messages from Transistor. Ask their IT team to allow our emails: see What rules should I add to our allow list to ensure Transistor's emails are delivered to my company?
