How do I distribute my video podcast to Apple?

Apple has a couple of requirements before you can distribute your HLS video podcast to Apple Podcasts. Make sure you do these before you connect your video podcast to Apple.

1. Claim your show in Apple Podcasts Connect

If you haven't already, you'll need to claim your podcast on podcastsconnect.apple.com. Here's a quick YouTube walkthrough.

2. Apple must manually approve your account for video

Not every show is automatically approved for video on Apple Podcasts. Apple manually reviews each account before enabling the feature to ensure it meets their content guidelines (no copyright violations, guideline issues, etc.).

Users will need to request that Apple review their account for video eligibility. Apple will review and enable video only on eligible accounts.

You can request a review right now:

3. Ask us to enable video for you in Transistor

Forward your Apple approval email or a send a screenshot to support@transistor.com, and we will enable the video beta for your show.

4. Add your Apple API Key in Transistor

Finally, you will have to get your Apple API Key and add it to Transistor.

In Apple Podcasts Connect:

  1. Go to Account > API Keys.
  2. Click "Generate API Key".
  3. Download the API Key as a PEM file.

Then, in your Transistor Dashboard:

  1. Go to (One of your shows) > Distribution
  2. Click "Connect" next to Apple Podcasts (under "Video Hosting and Distribution")
  3. Upload your API Key (the PEM file you downloaded above)
  4. Click "Connect to Apple"

Now, video episodes should start appearing in Apple Podcasts.
