Campaign Scheduling

Scheduling Campaigns

Transistor offers dynamic audio insertion (DAI) for podcasts. This allows you to insert ads, audio clips, or announcements at the beginning, middle, and end of your episodes. The first step in incorporating dynamic audio and show notes into your episodes is building a campaign. If you're just getting started, you can learn more about creating your first campaign here.

Some of you have more advanced campaign management needs requiring multiple campaigns that start and end at scheduled times. Transistor provides campaign schedules to accommodate a wide variety of needs.

If your advertising needs aren't complex you can leave scheduling features disabled. In this more "basic" mode you'll be able to set a single default campaign for your show, and assign individual episodes to different campaigns. It's a simpler setup for simpler needs and it's where we'd recommend you start.

Scheduling Mode

In the campaigns area of your show, you'll see a "scheduling" tab. Once enabled, you can set start and end dates for your campaigns in your show's time zone. We'll apply the changes at the correct time to keep your audio and show notes in sync with your schedule. You can leave this off if you'd prefer to handle your campaigns manually.

Note: If you've already been using campaigns, you'll likely see existing campaign schedules. These will represent your default campaign and any campaigns that you've set on individual episodes.

Schedules

Schedules are pretty simple to setup. Each schedule consists of just a few settings:
Campaign - Select a campaign you've setup containing ads and dynamic show notes
Start date (optional) - The date and time the campaign should go "live." You can leave this blank if you want the campaign to go live immediately
End date (optional) - The date and time to turn this campaign schedule off. Again, you can leave it blank, which will run the campaign schedule indefinitely

Apply this Campaign:
Universally - Apply to any applicable episodes not already serving another campaign
Selected episodes - Select specific episodes to apply the campaign to, taking precedence over universal campaigns during the same timeframe

Excluding an episode from universal campaigns

Universal campaigns will apply to all episodes that aren't assigned directly to other campaigns. If you'd like to avoid an episode getting assigned to universal campaigns, head to the episode settings and check the "Exclude" checkbox.
