How do I distribute my video podcast to Apple?

Video Beta Customers: As of July 15, 2026, We've simplified this process! Getting video enabled in Transistor is now the first step, and we will request Apple approval on your behalf as part of connecting your show.


Follow these steps to start distributing your video podcast to Apple Podcasts:


  1. Ask us to enable the Video Beta for your show in Transistor
  2. Connect to Apple video distribution
  3. Upload your first video episode

Video podcasting features are currently in Beta Testing. See here for more details.


We are enabling the Video Beta on a show-by-show basis for customers who want early access. To be eligible, you must be on the Professional plan or above.

2. Connect to Apple video distribution


Once video is enabled for your show in Transistor, go to Distribution > Video Hosting and Distribution, click "Connect", and follow the prompts to make sure each requirement is met. You may not receive all the prompts listed in this guide - this just means you have already completed those tasks for your show.


Prompt 1: Submit your podcast to Apple Podcasts


In order to use Apple Podcasts Video, you must first add your show to Apple Podcasts, and have at least one publicly available episode, such as a Trailer episode.


Prompt 2: Claim your podcast in Apple Podcasts Connect


You'll need to ​claim your podcast​ on podcastsconnect.apple.com. You may need to wait for Apple to recognize the claim token in your feed, so we will email you once they've done so.


Prompt 3: Upload your Apple API Key


In Apple Podcasts Connect:

  1. Go to Account > API Keys.
  2. Click the plus (+) symbol to add a new API Key.
  3. Download the API Key as a PEM file.


Then return to Transistor, go to Distribution > Video Hosting and Distribution and upload the PEM file.


Important: do not rename the PEM file before uploading it to Transistor.


Prompt 4: Wait for Apple to approve your show for video


Finally, you'll need to wait for Apple to approve your show for video on their end. We'll email you once it's ready, typically within a few business days.


We request this approval on your behalf, but if you like, you can also request access from Apple directly.


If this status seems wrong to you, you can check whether Apple has already approved your show by going to Apple Podcasts Connect > Show > Settings > Video Podcasts.



3. Upload your first video episode


Any video episodes you upload after this point will appear in Apple podcasts once they grant access.
