How do I add video to my existing podcast?
Before you add video to any episode, turn on video for your podcast and connect YouTube and Apple Podcasts in the Video Distribution panel on the Distribution tab. Then follow the steps for your situation below.
I only want video for new episodes
- If you don't have a YouTube channel yet, create one and verify your account. Transistor needs a verified YouTube account to upload video.
- Connect YouTube and Apple Podcasts
- Upload a video file with your next episode, and we'll publish it everywhere you've connected
I want to add video to past episodes that aren't on YouTube yet
- Connect YouTube and Apple Podcasts before you upload any videos
- Open each past episode, click Replace your media file → and upload its video
- We'll extract the audio, prepare the video for Apple Podcasts and your RSS feed, and upload it to YouTube
Replacing the file doesn't affect the episode's analytics or its listing in podcast apps.

My past episodes are already on YouTube
Transistor doesn't upload an episode to YouTube if it already has a YouTube video. So link your existing videos first, and we won't create duplicates:
- Open each past episode, paste the link to its YouTube video in the YouTube Video URL field, and save
- Then click Replace your media file → and upload the same video. You can download it from YouTube Studio, or use your original file from Riverside, Descript or your editor.
Apple Podcasts and your RSS feed get the video, and the episode's share page and website page embed your existing YouTube video.
