How do I sell access to a private podcast?
Transistor doesn't take payments from listeners. To run a paid private podcast, use a membership or payment platform to sell access, then add people to your private podcast when they pay and remove them when they cancel.
Keep paying members in sync
- Ghost: connect Ghost directly, and members are added and removed automatically. See How do I connect Ghost to my private podcast?
- Other membership platforms: use Zapier or Make to add a subscriber when someone joins and remove them when they cancel.
- Your own system: add and remove subscribers with the Transistor API.
- By hand: for a small list, add and remove subscribers yourself. See How do I add and remove private podcast subscribers?
Point Spotify listeners to your signup page
If you've turned on Spotify Open Access, people may find your podcast on Spotify before they've paid. In the Spotify section of your private podcast's Distribution tab, add your membership signup page, and we'll link to it for anyone who doesn't have access yet.

Selling to Apple Podcasts listeners instead
If your podcast is public and you'd like listeners to pay for extra episodes inside the Apple Podcasts app, you can use Apple Podcasts Subscriptions.
