How do I add and remove private podcast subscribers?
You manage who can listen to your private podcast from its Subscribers tab. Your podcast needs at least one published episode before you can add anyone.
Add subscribers
Open the Manage Subscribers menu on the Subscribers tab:
- Add one subscriber: enter an email address. We send that person a welcome email straight away.
- Add many subscribers: upload a CSV file of email addresses. If your list is in Excel or Google Sheets, export it as a CSV first. You'll see the new email addresses we found, so you can uncheck any you don't want before clicking Add Subscribers.
- Shareable invite link: copy a link, or download a QR code, that anyone can use to sign up with their email address.
Each new subscriber gets a welcome email with their own landing page and RSS feed. To change that email, or check what subscribers will see:
Control who can use your invite link
- To only let people from your organization sign up, go to the Settings tab and add your domain (for example, yourcompany.com) to Safelist domains for invite links. Separate several domains with spaces.
- To stop people with certain email domains signing up, add them to Blocklist domains for invite links.
- If your invite link has been shared too widely, open Shareable invite link and click Expire invite link (generate a new one). The old link stops working.
The invite link keeps working until you reach your plan's subscriber limit.
Manage a subscriber
Click the menu next to any subscriber to:
- View subscriber details: see their downloads and listening history. See How do I see analytics for my private podcast?
- Change email address
- Landing page URL: copy the link to their personal landing page, for example to send it to them yourself
- Resend welcome email
- Remove subscriber
The Activated column shows whether a subscriber has listened to an episode yet, and Notified shows when we last emailed them.
Help subscribers who haven't started listening
Subscribers who haven't listened to any episodes yet are "non-activated". To send them all their listening instructions again, click Notify all non-activated subscribers on the Subscribers tab.
Remove subscribers
When you remove a subscriber, their RSS feed and landing page stop working, and they lose access in Spotify too.
- One subscriber: click the menu next to them, then Remove subscriber
- Many subscribers: open Manage Subscribers, choose Remove many subscribers, and upload a CSV of the email addresses to remove. You'll get to review the list first.
- Everyone who hasn't listened yet: open Manage Subscribers and choose Remove inactive subscribers
Export your subscribers
Click Export subscribers CSV on the Subscribers tab to download all of your subscribers.
Keep your subscriber list in sync automatically
If people join and leave through another system, like a membership platform, you can add and remove subscribers automatically with Zapier, Make or the Transistor API.
How many subscribers can I have?
Your plan sets how many subscribers you can have across all of your private podcasts, and each email address only counts once.
