How do I import an episode from Riverside?
If you record and edit your podcast in Riverside, you can send an episode straight to Transistor. It arrives as a draft episode, with its audio or video and its transcript, ready for you to finish and publish.
How to send an episode from Riverside
- In Riverside, export your episode and wait for it to finish processing
- Click Preview and Share, then click the Transistor button at the bottom of the sharing options
- Name your episode and click Export
- Log into Transistor when your browser opens
- Choose which show the episode is for, and check the episode title
- Wait a moment while we check your files on Riverside. If they're still processing, the page keeps checking for you
- Click Import and create draft audio episode (or video episode)
- Add any other details, like show notes and artwork, then publish when you're ready
Riverside has its own guide on publishing an audio episode and transcript on Transistor.
What comes across from Riverside
- Your audio or video file, up to 30 GB
- Your transcript, if Riverside has one for the episode. We bring over the SRT and plain text transcript files
- Your episode title, which you can change before importing
Your show notes template and default people are added to the new episode, and it gets the next episode number in your current season. Chapters, show notes and artwork don't come across from Riverside, so add those in Transistor.
Importing video
If you export a video from Riverside, what happens depends on your show:
- Video is turned on for your show: we create a video episode
- Video isn't turned on: we take the audio from your video and create an audio episode
If you send an audio export to a show that has video turned on, we'll let you know, so you can export the video from Riverside instead. You can still import it as an audio episode if you'd like. See How do I add video to my existing podcast? to turn video on.
